A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre sourced from 15 parcels around the appellation, Xavier Vignon's 2022 Lirac was aged in concrete (for the Grenache), while a portion of the Syrah matured in barrels. Intense garrigue notions of resinous herbs - rosemary, lavender and bay - appear on the nose, supporting cherries and raspberries. Full-bodied, supple and creamy in feel, with a long, herb-tinged finish and a coating of dusty tannins, this is an excellent representation of vintage and place. Drink date: 2023-2030. Score - 91.
