The 2005 Mas La Plana is at a nicely evolved, complex and inviting stage of development. There's some beguiling floral notes alongside wild herbs, dried and fresh berry fruit, red and black, and savoury brown spice. The palate is full, rich and intensely concentrated, with lively acidity, abundant but fine-grained tannins and long, warm finish. Well above average complexity here, somewhere between Bordeaux, Napa Valley and Provence in style, and all the better for it. Nice wine. Tasted October 2010. Value Rating: *** Score - 92.
