Lisa Hamilton Rhodes, an Archaeologist, turned fundraiser for a prominent New Mexico conservancy, is summoned to a dig site by her old professor and mentor, Dr. Jay Thompson. Thompson reveals the "find of a lifetime," the complete remains of a Conquistador, a Mesoamerican warrior, and an ancient stone tablet of great significance to a Native American tribe. The find draws Lisa back into "field" archeology, and she joins Thompson's dig to research the provenance of the discoveries and solve their inherent mysteries. Paired with Native American Anthropologist Nicki Wolf, they delve into the puzzle of the conquistador and warrior's identities. But before the stone can be returned to its rightful stewards, Supremacist leader Mark Verner has it stolen by his mercenary team. They botch the first attempt to steal the tablet and a kidnap attempt on Nicki that results in the death of her medicine man grandfather Star King. The action escalates from there, culminating in a showdown between Verner's militia, the FBI, and a rebel force plotting the overthrow of Verner's organization from within.
