Synopsis This book is a practical mental-health survival guide written specifically for musicians and music professionals living life on and around the stage. Drawing on my dual perspective as a Neuro Holistic Therapist and long-time gigging musician, it explores how rehearsals, recording, late nights, financial pressure, band politics and the constant demand to “perform” can quietly erode wellbeing. Instead of abstract theory, the book offers a toolbox of clear, road-tested strategies to manage anxiety, low mood, burnout, impostor syndrome, creative blocks and the post-gig comedown – including simple rituals to use before, during and after shows. Alongside these tools, it encourages longer-term thinking: setting boundaries, protecting relationships, and planning realistic Plan B and Plan C options so that identity and purpose aren’t lost when the music stops. Grounded in lived experience and the ethos of Musicians Against Depression, this is a compassionate, stigma-free handbook designed to sit in a gig bag or studio drawer – a straight-talking companion to help musicians look after their minds as carefully as their instruments, and build a sustainable, emotionally healthy life in music.
