It's 1921 and a serial killer is stalking the moors of Devonshire. Somewhere within Moreleigh Hall lies the Lost Room where, it is said, a madwoman was walled up alive four centuries ago. When at last she died, the room was sealed and its location within Moreleigh forgotten. But when the tortured, disfigured bodies of young women begin turning up in the countryside around Harrowfield the villagers are convinced that the evil still existing within the room'was reaching out once again. Inspector Angus Balfour is dispatched by Scotland Yard to investigate. What he finds in his search for 'The Harrowfield Ripper' will lead him to the Lost Room and to the secret it holds.
