Pain doesn't associate itself with one gender or ethnicity more than another. Pain grips the heart of a man as quickly and as sharply as it does a woman. Pain causes two things - tears and action. There are times when the tears flow inward causing catastrophic actions in its wake and then there are those tears that leave a trace on a stone or broken face. Fellas, it is ok for men to cry. I mean not only in the dark. The traces of my tears are in the words printed in this book. These poems represent an outward expression of the river of pain and sorrow that flowed inside of me for over seven years. Each verse loosed me from death's sorrow, the knots of a rights of passage into manhood, those gripping anxieties of a father without a clue and a husband without spiritual guidance, and finally from a life of denial to one of acceptance. Men, women, boys, and girls allow yourselves to be moved. Allow the verses to move you from a point of pain to a state of PRAISE! You are worthy, so let yourself go.
