Benjamin Newton (1762 1830) was Rector of Wath in the early nineteenth century, and the tutor and close friend of Charles Budenell-Bruce, the first Marquis of Ailesbury. This book, originally published in 1933, contains the text of his diaries from 1816 to 1818, in which he records the daily duties of a clergyman in this period as well as his travels through the country and encounters with members of the nobility. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in life among the upper-middle classes in the late Georgian or early Victorian era. | The Diary of Benjamin Newton by C. P.
