The Madrid in black is Birkenstock's most classic sandal style. The Birkenstock Madrid is the oldest sandal style at Birkenstock. It was launched as a "gymnastics" sandal over fifty years ago. The Madrid features Birkenstock's signature footbed, with a single, adjustable strap model. The upper is made from the skin-friendly, hard-wearing synthetic material Birko-Flor, a soft fabric with a smooth leather-like finish. Suede insole absorbs moisture and feels great against the skin. A lightweight EVA sole provides cushioning and shock-absorbing traction.
