JAY JAX, Mike Morris, and Anthony Mattola were three friends from the Great War. Jay hailed from New Jersey, Mike from San Francisco, and Tony was an Opera singer from Milan, Italy. After the war, they each went their separate ways. Jay became a cop in Woodbridge, New Jersey, while Mike served on the San Francisco Police Department, and Tony returned to the opera.
Eighteen years later, their lives became intertwined once again. Jay relocated to San Francisco after Mike offered him a job on the police force. In 1932, Jay was severely wounded during a shootout with a Canadian bootlegger. After a year of convalescence, he transitioned into becoming a Private Investigator. Then, in June 1936, he witnessed what appeared to be a suicide. Or was it? Determined to uncover the truth, Jay embarks on a 3,956-mile train journey to find the answers he seeks.
