The cover picture depicts a family of swans. The lone swan on the front cover represents ISO 9001 ""The Father."" It is considered the favourite and is known by everyone. The swan on the back cover represents ISO 9000 ""The Mother."" The mother does a lot of work behind the scenes but this is not always recognised by others. The larger cygnet is ISO 9004 although quite small it will no doubt grow as more people become aware and take notice of it. The smallest ISO 19011 is the most vulnerable and may not stay part of the family for much longer. Is ISO 9001moving towards the others and going to recognise them? (READ ON TO FIND OUT) This book was written to highlight the importance of the ISO 9000 Family of Standards and the role that each standard plays within that Family. The intention is that the purpose and scope of each standard will be better understood and some of the confusion over ISO 9001 will be removed. It has been decided that as the ""ISO 9001 Audit Trail"" book is relevant, extracts from the 1st edition March 2010 have been included as appendix F.
