Greed Inc.
A Novel by Arun Manohar
In the latter half of the 20th century, a number of literary works received an overwhelming response from readers, setting new sales records. The novels written by Arthur Hailey, Frederick Forsyth, John le Carré, John Grisham, and Dan Brown must be mentioned among them. They gave a new and innovative turn to this genre of fiction. Their writing style was what would be called 'infotainment' today. Their goal was to entertain the reader without any compromises, while also introducing them to various subjects and new aspects of human behavior.
When I read Arun Manohar’s novel, GREED INC., it seemed like somewhat re-living the thrill of these novels! I could not put it down till I finished reading. Despite diversity, there is a common thread among them. These novels can all be classified as thrillers or mysteries. However, they are not in the same vein as the mysteries of Conan Doyle or Agatha Christie, because their scope is much broader. They are underlaid with international politics. Manohar’s novel Greed Inc. is one such scientific fiction thriller which takes readers to a greedy corporate world. Here are some excerpts from the novel:

"Mind your language!" Siva interrupted him.
"Sorry. But you know what I mean!"
"No. I don't! Do not you ever see other's problem? The situation here in India is more serious than in the US. Companies in the US will soon launch vaccines. Here, they are still struggling."
"The lazy people! They deserve to suffer!" Hewitt spat disdainfully.
"When death is raging, no one works lazily! If the system here had not acted promptly, my work would not have progressed so quickly."
Shivanand said.
"So, far that they should take advantage of us?"
"What advantage? Both companies are bearing the production costs. Why should Hewitt Pharma get the larger share of production? Bigger amounts of vaccine are needed here!" Siva pleaded.
