This new illustrated goat book takes a serious look at goat farming. It gives consideration to both small and large-scale commercial goat farming enterprises. 'GOATS' is divided into three sections namely: 1) meat goats 2) fibre goats and 3) others including cheese production and more. It is NOT a goat husbandry book. The facts provided were gathered over several years. Hopefully, they will provide, those already in the industry and those considering entering the goat industry, an overview of past, present and future challenges. These include live-goats and frozen-meat export markets, mohair production, feral goat management, and promotion. The book's author is better known as a fiction writer though for several years she wrote feature articles for an international goat magazine. For some time she has wanted to share her experiences acquired over almost 20 years of farming both Angora and Boer goats. During the course of that time she visited many goat studs, a few large commercial farms and even abattoirs. Many of the photographs were taken by the author.
