This study delves into the complex and multifaceted relationship between gender and the French Revolution, challenging the conventional narrative that portrays revolutionary women primarily as transgressors of traditional gender roles. Instead, this research demonstrates that the majority of revolutionary women aimed to redefine their roles within the framework of a new ideology that emerged during the Revolution: that of the extended Republican family.
