Excerpt from From One Generation to Another: Our Family, Our Father, Home and Customs, Schools, Churches, Amusements, Roads and Highways The genealogical records of the Langdons in America disclose as the progenitor of our line Philip Langdon, a mariner who, in company with two brothers, came to this country from Yorkshire, England, in the year sixteen hundred and forty. Our ancestor remained in Boston while one brother made his home in New Hampshire, and the other in Virginia. The New Hampshire Langdon had several descendants of note. John Langdon, a sen ator for many terms, distinguished as having been the presiding officer of the first senate of the United States, was of the New Hampshire family, as was also Samuel Langdon, president at one time of the Harvard College.
