The Beretta family own the Castello di Radda in Chianti, and this property is a fairly recent offshoot. Among its 5ha of vines is the parcel in Castelletto in Monforte, which is the source of this Barolo, and the 2016 surpasses the excellent 2015. It has a stern cherry nose and a powerful, tannic, full-bodied palate. It's rather grippy now but has energy and flair, tension and spice, and overall it's imperious and long, if not very subtle. Drinking window: 2022-2038. Score - 93. (Stephen Brook, decanter.com, Jan. 25, 2020) The Beretta family own the Castello di Radda in Chianti, and this property is a fairly recent offshoot.
