This research examines the power costs of network irregularities on communications and localization in an Ad-hoc Wireless Sensor Network (AWSN). Specifically, the performance of two anchor-based algorithms, APS-Euclidean and Map-Growing, are characterized with respect to the data communications costs. The number of data bits transmitted and received are significantly affected by varying levels of mobility, node degree, and network shape.
