Silky and supple, especially for Rugiens, the just-ripe pomegranate fruit scented with black tea, bergamot, and bay leaf is intriguing. The texture seems light and fresh on the initial attack, but with some time, the wine's firm tannic is apparent. The grapes are from a parcel of just over 0.36 hectares; a portion of Rugiens-Bas has been replanted, so it is not clear if this will be bottled on its own. The grapes were destemmed and punched down twice daily before ageing in cask (one-third new). Drinking window: 2027-2055. Score - 95.
