Kael Ruggeman is the best chef in NYC and Helene Carnahan is the food critics' favortie food critic. A lifetime ago, they had an 'almost' romance. Kael is looking for his next 5-star review to make him top of the top but plans change when his aunt dies and leaves him her diner in Kansas the same day Helene gives him 4 stars. When an anonymous reviewer pops up at the diner and gives Kael four Blue Plates, that's the last straw. The review, and his response, are printed in Helene's food publication and the fight is on. Fighting for their name and reputation while battling their growing feelings for each other proves to be too much.
