Bud: My Adventure Across America is a historical fiction book for readers ages 8-12. The story is based on the real event of the first automobile crossing of America in 1903. Bud, An English Bulldog, suddenly finds himself on a historic journey across America. He had never seen a car before, but when one comes splashing down the muddy street of his Idaho town he finds his life is changed forever. The driver is trying to be the first to drive a car across America and Bud joins the adventure. The poor condition of the few roads in the American west made travel difficult. As Bud shares the challenges and adventures of their journey, he's left wondering why people do the things they do. This new life brings adventure, excitement, fame and new friends as Bud becomes the first dog to cross the country by car.
