365 Days of Compassion is a cathartic day-to-day journey through the illness and death of my mama, and getting through the grief that followed. Daily writing helped me wipe the sand off the messages that were bottled up and express the thoughts that arose with every gentle tide and crashing wave of emotion, throughout a challenging year. I learned more than any other year how to speak the language of my soul and translate the simultaneous pain and bliss into a sense of wholeness. Everyone has experienced or will face the death of a loved one, and ultimately will move through the transition themselves. Though it is not a new situation, each person holds a unique perspective on how to face the challenges of aging, dying, and living. Every part of our lives may be affected when viewed through the eyes of compassion. These pages are the emotions of my daily thoughts, questions, reflections, insights, sadness, grief, joy, love notes, and calls for compassionate presence that I hope will take you on an intimate journey of your own. Epiphany can arrive in unexpected moments and understanding can arise through the words of others. My sincerest wish for you is to see yourself reflected in the vulnerable expressions I share here.
