Maeve Everbrill has a history with summer camps. When she was young, she was sent to Camp Swallowtail, where she spent a disastorous summer that taught her she needed to hide from the truth in order to make friends. She lives this way, swearing off all things camp-related. Things are going well until the summer before her senior year, when her parents uproot her life and move to the summer camp they recently decided to purchase-Camp Swallowtail. Determined to prove to her parents that this was the wrong decision, Maeve vows to do everything she can to get them to move back at the end of the summer. But when strange things begin to happen around camp and the ghosts of Maeve's past threaten to arise, she is forced to face the truth-and herself.
